How we serve.
Soup Kitchen.
In a community outside Johannesburg where unemployment reaches nearly 50%, the need for consistent, nourishing meals is overwhelming. Mlu and his dedicated team step into that gap with compassion, delivering hot meals from their vehicles every two weeks to anyone who is hungry—children, families, and elderly neighbors alike. Their dream is to establish a permanent community center where they can expand their efforts and provide meals twice each week, creating a stable, welcoming place for hope and connection. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, they have already served more than 2,000 hot meals—and they are only just beginning.
Community Center for Orphans.
Thanks to your generous donations, the land for Peace Village in Uganda has been fully purchased—marking a major milestone in creating a safe, nurturing home for vulnerable children. With the help of local architecture students, the design for the community center is well underway, blending functionality, cultural relevance, and a vision for long-term sustainability. This center will become the heart of Peace Village: a place where orphans can gather for meals, education, counseling, and community, and where they can begin to rebuild their futures surrounded by stability, care, and opportunity. Your support is laying the foundation—quite literally—for a brighter, safer tomorrow for these children.
School Uniforms, Shoes, and Coats.
Across Ocean View and communities outside Johannesburg, many children face daily obstacles to attending school—often because they lack something as basic as proper shoes, a required uniform, or even a warm coat to get through the winter months. Through dedicated fundraising and generous donations, we provided winter coats to 20 children, school shoes for more than 50 kids, and complete school uniforms for roughly 50 students. In communities marked by poverty and limited opportunity, these essentials made a transformative difference: ensuring children could attend school comfortably, confidently, and with a sense of dignity. Your support helped open doors to education, stability, and hope for their futures.
Women’s Sewing Initiative.
To help create sustainable income opportunities for women in the community, we launched a sewing initiative focused on producing and selling school uniforms—a high-need item in the area. We have already purchased one sewing machine and hope to acquire at least three more so additional women can participate and earn a steady living. The largest challenge we face right now is the lack of a permanent facility for the South Africa Outreach Hub, which limits the ability to safely store equipment and operate consistently. Establishing a dedicated space will allow this program to grow, empower more women, and build long-term economic stability for their families.
Clothing Drive – Supporting Families & Job Seekers.
In communities where resources are scarce, even basic clothing can make a profound impact. Through our clothing drive, we provided everyday clothing for 50 children—helping ensure they had clean, comfortable items to wear to school and at home—and professional attire for 30 adults preparing to look for work. For families with very little, these donations offered dignity, confidence, and a meaningful step toward stability. Your support helped children feel cared for and helped adults present themselves professionally as they pursued new opportunities.
Sports Gear for Youth.
In Ocean View—a community still deeply affected by the generational impacts of apartheid—many children grow up with very few resources and without consistent support from the adults in their lives. To uplift and encourage these kids, we collected and delivered hundreds of pairs of soccer cleats, uniforms, sports gear, and other equipment to support their involvement in soccer, volleyball, and recreational activities. For children who had never owned proper gear, these donations meant more than just play—they offered dignity, belonging, and a chance to thrive in a healthy, positive environment.
Community Transportation Van.
Several years ago, we led a successful capital fundraiser to purchase a transportation van for a community organization in Ocean View, South Africa, and continued supporting the vehicle’s fuel, insurance, and maintenance for multiple years. In an area with no reliable public transportation, this van became a lifeline—safely taking children to school and sports activities, and helping community members access essential gatherings and services. While we no longer partner with this organization, we remain proud of the meaningful impact this project made and the increased opportunities and safety it provided to the community during those years.
Christmas Camp.
From 2018 to 2023, we raised funds each year to send 35 children from Ocean View to a Christmas camp—an experience many of them would never have had otherwise. For kids growing up in a community facing deep poverty and limited opportunities, this camp offered something precious: the chance to simply be kids. They swam in a pool, played games, watched movies, and enjoyed the carefree moments that so many children take for granted. These experiences created lasting memories, built confidence, and reminded them that joy and childhood belong to them, too.
